The Social Outfit
The Social Outfit is a sustainable fashion brand and social enterprise based in Marrickville, committed to ethical manufacturing. The organisation provides employment and training opportunities to people from refugee and new migrant backgrounds through its in-house studio and retail store.
Each year, The Social Outfit runs a Community Print Project in partnership with a selected community organisation supporting refugee women. The project involves a series of collaborative art workshops and encourages participants to connect through creativity, resulting in a collection of individual motifs and artworks.
Once the final print was selected, I was responsible for developing a range of garments and detailed tech packs to refresh existing silhouettes for their Spring 26 collection. The designs were created to align with the brand’s core customer - someone who dresses modestly but enjoys touches of sparkle and shine.
All garments are produced in-house, and I worked closely with the production team to ensure the tech pack of each design aligned with the skill sets and capabilities of the machinists and makers.
